My Rating
“Family Bonding”
A misunderstanding sends Thor into a Loki filled rage. As the two brothers race through the streets of Asgard Loki takes a magical shortcut through a multidimensional portal. As the greenish energy is about to fade, the Mighty Thor reaches through the portal in an attempt to stop the God of Mischief. What Thor retrieves kinda, sort of, looks like his brother. It’s Alligator Loki!
What do you do with a multiversal variant of one’s brother? Amusement park time! Let’s hit the Rollercoaster ride before the lines get too long!
“Hammer Time”
Alligator Loki has been invited into the inner sanctum of Thor Odinson. Don’t worry, he’s not a vampire so he could have entered at his Alligator will. During an Interstellar booty-call, the love sick Thor is distracted by Jane Foster’s Verizon Wireless minutes. Now is the time to strike! Alligator Loki shall own the Mighty Mjölnir. Let the games begin!
“God Of (Butterf)lies”
Sometimes you just can’t take a nap no matter how hard you try. For the trickster God of alligators, the problem can turn into many more. The old Asgardian saying goes “a butterfly flapping its wings can affect an Alligator Loki on the other side of the river”.
“World Tour”
Gotcha! Thor has finally found the sneak-thief in alligator’s clothing. Now it’s time for a Selfie shot. Hey, wait, no biting of the dome! Time for a quick flight to the Avengers’ secret hideout.Avengers???
“Zoo Break”
Poor Alligator Loki, your dignity has been taken from you. Welcome to Zoo Life, buddy. If only you can convince one of the saps to let you out of the exhibit. Wait, is that a couple of young bleeding heart heroes?
“Pet Tricks”
Say hello to my little friend! Why won’t the Alligator play with us? Leave it to Squirrel Girl to bring treats to the pet meet and greet. Hey, Alligator Loki IS friendly…for a price.
“Joy Ride”
Doctor Doom I presume? It’s time for Thor to lay the hammer down. Only one thing, it’s back at the Asgardian crib. Time to call upon the power of the hammer to seek out its wielder! Wait, is that Alligator Loki attached to the handle?
“Spa Day”
Alligator Loki is one lucky devil. Getting To spend time at the spa in the Dark Dimension. Can it get much better? Wait, is that Loki prime trying to steal the spotlight? He better not take all of the cucumber slices!
“Loki Vs. Loki”
You know, it had to happen at some point. Thanks to Magik, Alligator Loki has been whisked away to the butterflies and the lazy river. No more interference from those stupid heroes. Wait, what?!? Is that two legged Loki waiting for revenge?
“The Heist”
Partners! The Loki divide has come to an end. Why fight when they can steal? It’s party time at Stark Tower. Can the two troublemakers work together and nab the ultimate artifact of power? Loki-vengers, assemble!
“Cold Snap”
Winter time has come to the river. What does an alligator have to stay warm in this craziness? Maybe two leg Loki isn’t that bad after all. Time to mend some fences!
“The Surprise”
No two legged Loki, don’t put the alligator in the pet crate! Never put the alligator in a pet crate! Where does this dimensional doorway lead to? Noooo! Wait, hey this is awesome!
“Catch Me If You Can”
Time for another impromptu trip around the globe. Thank you, Mjölnir! Lookout suckers, this alligator stops for no one. Well, maybe for Thor’s thick Skull.
Reviewer Notes
What a cute little anthology Alligator Loki has here. Following the same vein as the “It’s Jeff!” one-shot, Marvel weaves together a series of interlocking mini-stories starring the coolest little version of the Trickster God. As with Jeff, this comic book has absolutely no dialog to follow. Everything is good though, as words are unneeded.
The Alligator Loki one-shot is nothing more than extreme silliness wrapped in a fun blanket. If you’re not a fan of the character, or if word counts pull your trigger, this book may not be for you. I will be honest here, I didn’t care for the “It Jeff!” one-shot. I didn’t know the character or his world. Even though I know a bit more about the world of Asgard, I think this one-shot seemed to be better crafted.
I’m giving Alligator Loki four out of five stars. Maybe they will do a follow-up with both Jeff and A.L. in the future. If you like either character you should enjoy this one-shot.
