Blade – Vampire Nation

Blade – Vampire Nation

My Rating

Rating: 5 out of 5.

“Vampire Nation”

High above the city of Stravmor, on the western border of Vampyrsk, a military Blackhawk helicopter swoops in on a newly constructed hotel resort. Somewhere inside the building sleeps a prominent member of the vampire council. A team of mercenaries jump to the deck as the black helicopter touches down near the service entrance of the hotel. Daybreak draws near and the extraction time will be tight.

Inside, the retrieval team rushes through the corridors scanning each wall for their target. The entire building is lined with rows and rows of secured hatch covers containing coffins with various guests. The scene resembles that of a high-tech morgue storage facility. Twenty seconds have gone and the mercenaries make their way to the third floor. Their target is hatch 32.

Thursday evening, outside the Hall of the Revolution, downtown Dragul (Capital of Vampyrsk), Eric Brooks exits the highly secure building with several questions on his mind. The former vampire hunter, now sheriff of the fledgling nation of Vampyrsk, has been assigned to track down the accomplices of yesterday’s raid. The order came directly from the head honcho himself, Dracula. Blade can only guess the motives of his former archenemy, however the investigation must be thorough. The stability of the nation depends on it.

Who ordered the raid on hotel suckhead? What are the three reasons humans are welcome residents inside the Chernobyl exclusion zone? Do fledgling vampires really need group therapy sessions? Collect the series to find out!

Reviewer Notes

I’ve been meaning to track down the recent books with the vampire nation story arc, but they seem highly sought-after and hard to find in my area. I think the arc starts in the Death of Doctor Strange series, but not 100% certain. With that said, this Blade one shot is an awesome read!

We get some nice details on the Vampyrsk nation and its residents. There is a mix of action and comedy leading to a twist ending. Got to love a juicy reveal even if there is no follow-up. Keeping my fingers crossed for a follow-up.

My favorite part of this book is the vampire group therapy sessions. Who would’ve thought vampires young and old would have issues? I had a good belly laugh at the “problems”. The grass is always greener, they say. I’m giving the Blade Vampire Nation one shot 5 secure hatches out of 5.
