Doctor Strange – Volume 06 Issue 17

My Rating

Rating: 5 out of 5.

“Blood Hunt – Part 03”

Trapped behind the mirror! In a bold move, the ghostly form of Victor Strange shifts places with the animals protecting the Sanctum Santorum, condemning Bats, Aleister, and Anton to the Crypt of Shadows. As team “snake dog” (or was it “dog snake”) begins to sniff around for a possible exit, their dread would explode like a bad case of the fleas. Say hello to your new cellmate, kids! Baron Mordo shutters into frame.

Elsewhere, in the mortal realm, Wong has just been defeated by the vampire form of Doctor Strange. While Victor takes full control over his brother’s spiritless body, Wong retreats into the inner hallways of the mansion. It doesn’t take long for Bats and his allies to spot the dire situation unfolding on the other side of the mirrors. Baron Mordo must act quickly to help the basset hound escape the crypt before the dog loses two of his friends!

Does the mortal enemy of Doctor Strange know the correct incantations to free everyone from the Crypt of Shadows? Who holds claim to the biggest story ever created by man or beast? What the hell does Anton mean by the “Timely Universe”? Collect the series to find out!

Reviewer Notes

Marvel, why tease us with the greatest character design since Lockjaw, only to take it away so quickly? Squeak, Squeak! Yes, we get it! Just throw the toy aleady and let us chase!

This issue of Doctor Strange is oddly titled “Blood Hunt – Part 03”, with the subtext underneith stating that this falls in between Blood Hunt – Parts 04 and 05. Wait, what? How does three fall between…well, never mind.

Jed McKay throws us a fastball this time, with the animals taking center stage. I loved everything about this issue. My only question, is Jed referencing characters from the G.O.D.S. event from earlier this year? I have no idea, but I am giving this squeaky squeak five stars for putting a smile on my face.
