Joe Fixit – Volume 01 Issue 01

My Rating

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Las Vegas – where crime never sleeps, a black limousine makes its way north up the famous strip. The driver’s destination is the Coliseum Casino, the passengers have business with local crime boss, Michael Berengetti. Inside the vehicle, an agitated Wilson Fisk drills his assistant for details about Maggia and their recent move on Berengetti’s territory. Unknown to the Kingpin, earlier that day a small tracking device was secretly  placed on his oversized coat by one Peter Parker.

The Coliseum Casino – 40 minutes later, Wilson Fisk lays on his back while Michael Berengetti’s newest bodyguard, Joe Fixit, stands over the New Yorker’s body. A confused Kingpin has never faced such an adversary before. Now his only option is to retreat back to his Manhattan empire. To make things worse, that meddling Spider-Man has shown up in Las Vegas and appears to be working for Berengetti as well.

Can Wilson Fisk perform a hostile takeover of Berengetti’s casino operations? Why has Spider-Man made his way to Sin City? Has Joe Fixit managed to rid himself of that meddling Banner for good? Collect the series to find out!

Reviewer Notes

Back by popular demand, Peter David has returned to helm this limited series and bring Hulk back to Las Vegas. I didn’t know the complete history of the Joe Fixit character, as I was out of comic book collecting before the original story arc began. I was a fan of the recent New Fantastic Four series, I grabbed this book when I noticed it on the rack.

This storyline is set in the current year of 2023. The New Fantastic Four miniseries released last year was set in the year 1991. Now, Joe is a little more mature and seems a bit more sinister.

I love the art in this book, and the writing is top notch. I’m going to give Joe Fixit a four out of five stars. I’m looking forward to the next issue.
