Midnight Suns – Volume 01 Issue 03

Midnight Suns – Volume 01 Issue 03

My Rating

Rating: 4 out of 5.

St. Louis cemetery, near the old French quarter – New Orleans, Agatha Harkness and Zoe Laveau stand inside the Laveau family crypt. The queasiness from the Professor’s teleportation spell lingers in Zoe’s stomach, but the thrill of being somewhere familiar quickly distracts her. Why did Professor Harkness bring her here when she knows it’s forbidden? Agatha Harkness quickly approaches a Laveau family heirloom known as the Black Mirror. Does that dust old relic play some role in stopping the oncoming apocalypse? An unfriendly ghost appears in front of the two women while taking on a familiar face.

Somewhere on the edge of the Dark Dimension – not Earth (definitely not on the same plain of existence) Wolverine, Magik, Blade, Nicu, and Spirit Rider begin to recover their senses. Where are they? The last thing they remember was fighting Doombots in the halls of Stange Academy. Now they are stranded in the last place imaginable. The Earth could be burning right now and there is nothing they can do about it. The team decides to make their way to a dark tower located some distance from their location. Blade has a good feeling about their decision even if it gives off a vampy feeling.

What is the history between the Dark Mirror and Agatha Harkness? Who is the mysterious sorcerer hanging by his appendages? Does Logan finally get to stab someone made of flesh and blood? Collect the series to find out!

Reviewer Notes

The Midnight Suns team finally gels with each other. Team Agatha and Zoe, not so much. We get some back story on Agatha Harkness from her youth. Can you even imagine Agatha as a youth? Me either.

Overall I’m enjoying this series even though I know little about the younger characters. The demon Valtorr seems to be in control of more than just mists and shadows. Lucky Blade is on the scene. Midnight Suns issue three deserves a 4 out of 5. Now go collect!
