Review

The Mighty Samson has one of my favorite post-apocalyptic settings. It’s a cross between Planet of the Apes and Thundarr the Barbarian. Unfortunately, issue five seems to be lacking the substance the other four books seemed to have. Don’t get me wrong, the other books are no intellectual deep-dive. Yet, the plot in this issue seems to be merely transitional train tracks leading readers to the King Kong spoof ending.

The whole book is nothing more than advertising for the Empire State Building. Weird. In any case, the art by Frank Thorne and George Wilson is amazing. I give this issue a solid three out of five stars. For serious monster collectors out there, you will want this series. Trust me on this one.
