“His Master’s Voice – Part 01”
On the run from Vestfold and Maudaros soldiers, Red Sonja makes her way to a remote Monastery on the edge of the Border Kingdoms. Accused of murder the crimson warrior must begin to find answers. If anyone knows the past of Lady Alberta, her acquaintance, the Bishop of Vestfold, would.
Red Sonja would never accuse the man of being highly moral, the position of piety can change anyone’s character. In the Bishop’s case all vices flow freely in through the back door of the church. The Bishop owes a favor to the Hykanian warrior and she will collect in this life or the next. All Red Sonja has to do is keep the sun behind her and avoid the main roads.
Who controls the black ravens pursuing the accused murderer? What strange magic holds sway over a tavern engaged in personal debauchery? Will Red Sonja find clues to Lady Alberta’s death before her luck runs out? Collect the series to find out!
Reviewer Notes
Yay, the crimson vagabond is back and this time she is on the run. I have to say Dynamite Entertainment has embraced Robert E. Howard’s world of Hyboria and continues to expand on the mythology with excellent production teams. From what I’ve read so far they seem dedicated to the fans of the source material. The guts, the grime, the sexual appetites are all there. What a relief.
The quality of issue one doesn’t falter from the Free Comic Book Day introduction to the story. I’m sticking with my previous rating of four out of five stars. By Crom, I pray this series goes the distance. If you are a fan of Hyboria add this one to your pull list.
