“Beginnings – Part 02”
The slave, Thulsa, rescued by Red Sonja, has become overly presumptuous. This is Hyrkania, not some Kothian slave outpost. As Sonja bathes in familiar waters, the Kushite swims toward her position with lustful eyes. Thulsa takes in every curve and divit of her body. Can the red-haired She-Devil be seduced like any common whore? The moonlight glow from above the waterfall may soothe the savage beast.
Elsewhere, in the capital city of Pah-Dishah, the ruling Viceroy learns of General Zutal advancing army. Three thousand men?! With the death of King Ghannif, no standing army has been kept. How will they defend against such numbers? If only a true warrior could lead them into battle. Mitra, have mercy!
Will Ozzyus discover the true intentions of Thulsa? Can Red Sonja rally her people before they are slaughtered by a foreign zealot? Who is the last descendant of King Ghannif? Collect the series to find out!
Review
It’s always fun to see material referenced from much older comic books. In this case, see Marvel Feature Issue 01 (1975) for the full backstory Red Sonja killing the king of Hyrkania. Writers Luke Lieberman and Peter David appear to have done their homework. For this, I give this book four out of five stars. This was another excellent chapter in the Red Sonja saga.
