“Return To Sleepy Hollow – Part 01”

Death has returned to the Western Woods. While the local Constable brands each demise as “accidents” or “misfortune”, those who survived the Headless Horseman know otherwise. It has been fifteen years since Ichabod Crane first set foot in Sleepy Hollow. Now, a letter from his former lover, Katrina Van Tassel, has brought the New York City detective back to investigate a new string of murders.

Has the Hessian returned to drag the remaining descendants of the Van Tassel family to hell? What drove Ichabod and Katrina from a lover’s embrace? Which bloodline does Lotte belong to? Collect the series to find out!

Review

IDW has resurrected the 1999 film adaptation of Sleep Hollow for fans and curious seekers alike. With writer Casey Gilly of Buffy the Vampire Slayer fame, the future looks bright for the franchise. I can’t wait to read issue two. I give issue one four out of five stars.

Bio of the Horseman

The Headless Horseman is the ghostly rider from The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. According to the tale, he is the restless spirit of a Hessian soldier who was decapitated by a cannonball during the American Revolutionary War. Each night he rides through the dark countryside near Sleepy Hollow, New York, searching for his missing head. Cloaked in shadow and riding a powerful black horse, the Headless Horseman has become one of the most enduring ghostly figures in American folklore, famously chasing the schoolteacher Ichabod Crane through the haunted valley.
