“The Brood”
The Hellphyr! Spawned from the worlds of both Heaven and Hell, the creature feeds upon the heart, mind, soul of those who practice magic. In a time in memoriam, the demon was locked away in the Tome of Zhered-Na, then kept hidden by the great descendant of the Kale family, Illyana Kale.
The monster has been freed from its magical prison thanks to the missteps of Andy Kale. Now the Hellphyr stalks the streets of New York City hunting for those mystics foolish enough to use their powers. It will take the combined force of the Sorcerer Supreme and his witches in conflict to place the demon back in the bottle. Proverbial speaking.
Can Wong convince Topaz, Jennifer Kale, and Satana that teamwork is safer than petty bickering? Will Ilya Zarkov listen to Doctor Strange and not get involved with the creature hunt? What dark plot is Lilith – the mother of demons, planning to unleash on the Sanctum Sanctorum? Collect the series to find out!
Reviewer Notes
The monster is unleashed and no one is safe. Did Lilith just shove some demon goo up her va-jay-jay and pump out a Hellspawn unit? Parents, your kids may not be ready for demon vagina. I’m just saying.
This was a really cool comic book. Some of these characters I’ve never heard or seen referenced before reading this book. Glamour and Illusion appear to be the Marvel version of DC Comics Madame Xanadu. I don’t think I’ve seen Lilith in a Marvel comic yet either. In any case, Witches #2 gets four out of five stars from me.
