“Return To Sleepy Hollow – Part 05”
The founders of Sleepy Hollow made a deal with something much older than their Christian God. After the Dutch had settled the region, they soon found the land unfarmable. Something had soured the earth as the colony began to thrive. Desperate, Fillipus and Gesina Van Tassel enraptured a local witch, stealing her magic for themselves. With the entity subdued by black magic, prosperity came to Sleepy Hollow. But at what price?
Decades later, a descendant of the Van Tassel bloodline sits in a prison cell accused of serial murder. Katrina awaits judgment as her friends and family race to the Western Woods to perform a banishing ritual. Ichabod Crane must stop the bloodletting, or the evil nature spirit will consume the entire town. Longing are the days of the Headless Horseman. For his terror was an inconvenience. This new horror is legion.
Will Ichabod and his allies find a scientific solution to what is killing the residents of Sleepy Hollow? Is the Crane family heritage tied to the founders of this Sleepy Dutch community? Will the Headless Horseman rise again? Collect the series to find out!
Review
We have reached the end of the story, and even though it was not what I expected, Return to Sleepy Hollow is still a solid horror story. I admit, the absence of the Headless Horseman was disappointing. It would have been nice if Casey Gilly had incorporated the Hessian into the plot, but he really wasn’t needed for this new villain.
I give this final issue four out of five stars. The series as a whole is a solid four-star adventure. I look forward to the future works of both Casey Gilly and artist Savanna Mayer. It appears a follow-up series is planned for the near future. I can’t wait!
