“The Day The World Ended”

The comet hurdles toward Earth as Thundarr, Ookla, and Princess Ariel watch as the fate of humanity is about to become dust in the wind. Gemini and the Council of Wizards has used science and sorcery to travel back in time and harness the energy from the 1994 cataclysm event. Fortunately for the three heroes, the Wizards are preoccupied with casting their spells. The Council is unaware that Thundarr and the others have used the same time tunnel to follow in pursuit.

Throughout the next few moments, the memories of Thundarr’s past keep filling his thoughts. Was he destined to escape the wizard Sabain and his death arena? Ookla would surely have killed him if it wasn’t for Ariel. Their friendship arose from those trials and tribulations. It matters little now, unless they can stop the Council of Wizards from altering the future.

Will both parties survive the global destruction and return to their proper timeline? Just how powerful of a wizard is Princess Ariel? Where did Thundarr obtain the Sun Sword? Collect the series to find out!

Review

Jason Aaron and Kewber Baal continue to fill in the gaps left unexplained in the original 1980s Saturday-morning cartoon series. All the original source material remains the same here, without exceptions. Dynamite needs to be praised for this over anything else. My childhood heroes are safe and ready to pass on to the next generation. For this, I give issue three a rock solid five out of five stars.
