Today is annual Superman Day in Metropolis and this year the city is celebrating the defeat of the Doomsday monster. A large gathering of people have arrived at Centennial Park to meet the ones responsible for saving the planet from destruction, the Superman Family. As John Henry Irons prepares to take the stage Jimmy Olsen and Cat Grant are providing live news coverage of the event.
Crosstown, at the Walker Industries headquarters, Charles Walker III and his bodyguard Stax watch the event live from several remote piloted scout drones. Unlike the festival crowd, Charles knows Steelworks is about to reveal a successful reproduction of John’s “zero point energy”, a technology recovered from Warworld. Unlike John, who wants to give the entire planet free energy, Charles wants all the power for himself. What both industry leaders don’t know is the negative effect the device will bring to the Superman Family.
Will the Walker Industries attack Drones be able to steal the arc reactor device at the Centennial Park event? What is causing elements of Natasha Irons’ suit to fuse with her genetics? Will Superboy get a chance to fight his first android robot? Collect the series to find out!
Reviewer Notes
Uh oh, someone should have left the Genesis Energy on Warworld. Why John, why do you have to save the entire planet? I don’t know much about the recent DC Universe but I think this series is a good starting point for new readers. You don’t need to know a lot of backstory to understand what’s going on.
I did find this issue a bit lacking in content compare to issues one and two, but still entertaining enough. The art is very well done, and with Michael Dorn behind the writing, I believe this series will go a long way. Issue three gets three stars from me. I can’t wait until the next issue.
