My Rating
“Power of Three”
Oh, no! Aunt Hilda and Zelda have been kidnapped by the sinister teen Witches calling themselves the “Wicked Trinity”. Can Salem or Enchantra help Sabrina battle the fearsome trio? Nope. Wait, how did Sabrina get to the Midtown Amphitheater? Maybe Alexandra Cabot and her grumpy cat will help fight those drama-queens. It’s time to start a new coven!
“Sabrina the Teenage Witch (Archie’s Madhouse #22 1962)”
Della has arrived at the Spellman house to test young Sabrina’s loyalty to the Witch’s code. Lookout Small High School, a fresh new spellcaster is about to make waves throughout the mortal realm. Can Sabrina dodge cupid’s arrow long enough to make top grades in witchcraft theory?
“Spook Out (Sabrina The Teenage Witch #5 1972)”
Why, oh why must Aunt Zelda send Sabrina to that dirty old haunted house? Can she find bat wings at the local five-and-dime? She better get going before the sun goes down or the activity will be double the trouble.
Hey great, Archie and Jughead have offered to drive her to the house. Wait guys, don’t go inside! We’ll, too late. Sabrina prepares herself for a spirited interaction with the owners of the abandoned mansion.
“The Court Jester (Sabrina The Teenage Witch #2 1971)”
Why is Reggie being such a jerk? So what if Archie is all thumbs on the Basketball court. Great now Arch is depressed. Can a little spellwork help balance the pregame jitters? Go, go, Sabrina, do your stuff!
“Young Salen in Scaredy Cat”
Things were different back in the good old days when Salem was human. He was young but the Magic Realm was old school. Dragons, treasure, haunted castles, but ghost weren’t real of course. Or are they? Can Uncle Mort convince young Salem to accompany him on a quest to raid the haunted castle of Baron Von Nightmare?!?
Reviewer Notes
Lookout Sabrina fans, Amber Nightstone has two new allies and they want to take over the Magic Realm. With the heavy hitters tied up in Midville can Sabrina stop the Wicked Trinity? Welcome to Annual Spectacular Number Uno!
As a closet Sabrina fan I thoroughly enjoyed this issue from front to back. We get two new stories and several Spellman classics. If you are new to the Sabrina universe, you will find the first appearance story included in this book. She was very different back in the beginning. Luckily she grew out of her brat stage.
Even though there is a major misspelling in one of the story titles (see the Young Salem splash for more details), this Annual is worth the purchase. Unlike many of the newer Archie releases, they keep the Advertising to a minimum. I’m giving Sabrina The Teenage Witch Annual Spectacular four out of five stars.
