Challengers Of The Unknown – Volume 05 Issue 04
My Rating

Rating: 4 out of 5.

“Red & Green”

Deep space – on the other side of Neptune, thanks to the guidance of the estranged explorer Captain Comet, Red Ryan and Hal Jordan have arrived at Ds-Anomaly-D. There, in the darkness, an asteroid appeared from the void at the same moment as Darkseid’s death. This event alone would have had every astronomer and astrophile begging for the chance to inspect the celestial body up close. But the physical structure was not the reasoning behind Atom Blake’s investigation. The asteroid was communicating with Captain Comet telepathically! The asteroid was in fact sentient!

Back on the Watchtower orbital space station, Mister Terrific has just finished reviewing the data models produced by Prof and the two Atoms. Unfortunately, his suspicions have been confirmed. Every member of the Challengers has been infected at the cellular level by Omega energy. At first, Terrific theorized that the Watchtower was the catalyst. Now the test scans have shown every Challenger has been compromised by the Darkseid event. But how could Clay Brody and Marlon Corbet be infected when they were safe on Earth? There’s another variable that needs to be identified!

What awaits Red Ryan and the Green Lantern at the center of the 15760 Albion anomaly? Why are the Justice League members calling for the internment of the Challengers of the Unknown? Who is Cave Carson? Collect the series to find out!

Reviewer Notes

Chris Cantwell brings back another Silver Age character in this latest edition of Challengers of the Unknown. We even see a cameo by Black Manta. Wait, what?! With only one more issue to go, it’s got to be a doozy. I give issue #4 a solid four out of five stars!
