“Thrice Marked For Death! – Part 03 Haunted”

The artifact was successfully taken from the temple of Bel, in the night, the thieves did wrestle through the mounting corpses. In the morning Conan, washed in the sorrows of his buccaneering past, handed off Tarim’s Touch for a lofty sum. With no time wasted, the drunken Cimmerian finds himself holding his guildmate Chaundra in an enigmatic bedchamber hidden from those who may wish to find him.

It was there in the early morning, as milky light crept through the chamber windows, Conan awoke from his sullen nightmare. Bêlit was there. She was always there in his dreams as if time had somehow returned him to the Black Coast of Kush. She was the only one who was his equal in both cunning and ambition. Now her body lay in the murky depths of a jungle tributary, Conan’s spirit seemingly taken with Shemite woman.

Conan awoke to a lover’s embrace. Chaundra “The Chat” played the game with him, but both knew this moment was as fleeting as the bag of coin gained the night before. As the two stirred from a night of debauchery, the memories of Bêlit still haunted his thoughts. Will he ever join her again in the afterlife? Would Crom even allow such a treasure to be held twice in one’s existence? Before Conan could debate such a theological question, Chuandra struck down at him with a Shadizarian blade.

What spectral force has turned guildmate against guildmate? Has Shadizar become overrun with dark sorcery? What was inside the artifact of Tarim’s Touch? Collect the series to find out!

Reviewer Notes

With Titan Comics continuing to bring us great content such as this, I see a whole new generation of fan being turned on to Robert E. Howard’s world of sword and sorcery. The writing and artwork continues to impress me as well as the editorial write ups.

In the back of the book, we get part six of Jeffrey Shanks’ retrospective on Robert E. Howard and his world as it existed in the early days of pulp magazines. I truly love these informative guides as they help place readers in the mindset of their works. I’m giving this issue of Titan Comics Conan four out of five stars. If you’re a fan of Hyboria, definitely get this series.
