Reviewer Notes
One of the guys at my local comic book store recommended this series. I was a fan of the original television series from the early 1990’s so I bought the first issue as a goof. To be honest I’m glad I did. Writer Amanda Deibert and artist Carlo Lauro does an excellent job recreating the look and feel of the original show. I know I haven’t seen the original in many years, but in my mind everything matches.
All the original characters are back as if they jumped off the television screen and directly onto the pages of the comic. The only thing that seems to have changed is the use of cellphone. Boy, Gosalyn Mallard sure does want one. I’m glad to see a parental figure putting his webbed foot down, as DW says no.
Dynamite Entertainment should get some praises for this production. Being a Disney license, hopefully the writing doesn’t veer off to the left and damage the IP. I’m giving issue number one of the “terror that flaps in the night” five out of five stars. Thanks Dynamite for bringing back a good memory of my youth.
