“The Life Of Doctor Strange”
In the realm of the supernatural, death can sometimes find a way. When the deceased have unfinished business in the world of the living, many things can be used to bridge their return. For Stephen Strange, that bridge came in the form of his one true love, Clea.
In the absence of Earth’s most powerful Sorcerer, the world has become even stranger. Elves, trolls, and faeries have migrated into the back alleyways of Manhattan. Demonic forces set up shop in Time Square and trade vices for souls. And let’s not forget the aliens. Welcome to Kallimeshi Town!
Is Stephen Strange ready to reclaim the mantle of the Sorcerer Supreme? Can Telehealth be too much work for even the most seasoned doctors to handle? Does a haunted garbage monster have any redeeming qualities?
“Freak Out!”
Over the city of Birmingham, somewhere in the central United Kingdom, a monstrous rainstorm is about to hit the region. From inside one of the blackened clouds floats the Psycho-Zeppelin of Doktor Zee. Inside the dirigible a deranged looking man barks orders as his Autonurses who scurry about performing various tasks. It’s time to power up the mobile consciousness-altering device!
Humanity will be awakened to the mystic world of the Vishanti, whether they like it or not. The only thing standing in the way of Doktor Zee’s misguided house call is the Agents of W.A.N.D – all two of them. Pandora Peters and Wong begin their assault on the bridge in an attempt to destroy the Doktor’s magic experiment.
Will the freaky Doktor Zee join the ranks of W.A.N.D. and help solve the murder of Aggamond? Why are the Agents of W.A.N.D. flying around in the set from a Errol Flynn movie? Do they get double air miles? Collect the series to find out!
Reviewer Notes
I was wondering how long Doctor Strange was going to stay dead. Now we know. As a pedestrian fan of the intellectual property I only know bits and pieces of the characters and storylines. With that said, I enjoyed what I have read so far.
This issue is mainly an introduction to the heroes and antagonists currently residing in the New York area. Apparently several dimensions have opened up in Manhattan leading to a new immigration problem. With Clea at his side, I believe Doctor Strange is on good footing.
I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a successful run of volume six. If future issues are like this one I have a good feeling it will last for a while. For issue one, I’m giving it 4 out of 5 stars. Now I have to decide who is cooler, Lockjaw or Bats the ghost dog.
