“Life During Wartime”
The Vishanti were not known to be cruel, for the most part. They had given so much knowledge to those wishing to learn. Their magic was the purest form of protection. It could heal the sick, help fight an oppressor, or even raise the dead. In a time of war, however, even gods with the knowledge of the universe can become cruel and jaded.
In the war of the Seven Spheres, the Vishanti would force Earth’s Sorcerer Supreme into a role he was unqualified to perform. Once a Doctor of Medicine, Stephen Strange would slowly degenerate into a cruel, homicidal General in the war between the Vishanti and the Trinity of Ashes. The change would not take hold over months or even decades. General Strange would be tempered in a war lasting five-thousand years!
Why must Doctor Strange abandon his home to fight a war so far away? Will Stephen succeed in casting a 99th invocation level spell? What happened at the Prayer-fields which saved so many lives? Collect the series to find out!

What an unexpected dark story this book was. Doctor Strange Issue 06 breaks from the last issue to chronicle the backstory of General Strange. It was a unique concept, but five thousand years? Really? You would thing his mind would degenerate even if the magic keeping his body young was still working. Who knows, I guess; it’s a comic book after all.
There were some interesting parts in this story, but to have the reader flip through page after page of a war that really has no future meaning, that seems like a waste to me. Who is the Trinity of Ashes? I’m not up to speed on all the Doctor Strange back history, so for me, this book gets a three out of five-star rating. I did like the eyeball sword.
