Reviewer Notes
I can’t believe I found the two issue “Dr. Giggles” comic book series from Dark Horse at a local thrift mall. What a treat. The story is based on the 1992 horror movie about a serial killer doctor who returns to a small town looking for revenge. This is the time when audiences were growing tired of the Jason, Freddy, and Michael franchises but still craved slasher movies. Dr. Giggles was one attempt to fill the void.
The comic book itself is well put together but the art is nothing spectacular. There are coloring flubs on some pages but its well done otherwise. In the back of the book, where the letters to editor section usually resides, Dark Horse has instructions on how to submit your independent comics for printing.
I would recommend this book for the 90’s nostalgia and bloody gore. Three stars for the first issue. Watch your back for Dr. Giggles!
