Fantastic Four – Volume 07 Issue 07 (LGY700)

My Rating

Rating: 4 out of 5.

“The Enemy Of The Good”

On the run from Maria Hill and her C.I.A. led taskforce, the members of the Fantastic Four have arrived at the farmhouse of Ben’s great-great-great-grandma Bertha. Now they’ve decided to lay low and wait for the Baxter Building to reappear in New York City.

Aunt Petunia is there at the house to greet them, but to Johnny’s disappointment, the old homestead is in ill-repair. Time to put those super rebuilding skills to work! Petunia reminds them not to disturb Bertha’s ghost as they work. Johnny whispers to Ben as Petunia drives away from the property “Is there really a ghost?” Reed reminds his brother-in-law there is no scientific proof of ghosts. But are there?

Days past as the Fantastic Four complete the reconditioning of the Grimm family farmhouse. To honor the woman who started it all, they decide to rename the new Fantastic Four headquarters the “Bertha Building”. All is well for a time but each day Reed and Susan come to realize they are beginning to lose their memories. It was little things at first, but then everyone began to experience the same condition.  It’s as if someone or something is draining their intellect.

Does Bertha’s ghost really haunt the Grimm family estate? Who wins the fight over who gets the biggest bedroom? What does Reed Richards really mean by sesquipedalophobia? Collect the series to find out!

Reviewer Notes

An old archenemy shows up to battle the Fantastic Four in this issue. Will this mystery guest finish what Reed failed to do during the Negative Zone invasion? I won’t ruin the surprise, but Ryan North brings many fun elements to this historical seven-hundredth issue of the Fantastic Four.

This is my favorite team of artists to work on the title so far. If Marvel Comics follows this model on their future projects the company will be secure for a long time. I’m giving this issue four out of five stars. Now what does sesquipedalophobia mean? Seriously.  Lol.
