Fantastic Four – Volume 07 Issue 11

My Rating

Rating: 5 out of 5.

“It’s Slobberin’ Time”

Ben Grimm kneels in front of the Fantastic Four farmhouse with a hammer and wooden sign in his hands. There is a crudely painted dog with a red cross out mark over it. The sign reads “No Dogs”. He begins hammering the signpost into the green grass as his wife Alicia frowns in disgust. There is a stray west highland terrier on the prowl and the Thing has been targeted for slobbering attacks.

For the next several days the little white dog visits more frequently as Ben’s anti-dog social behavior becomes more apparent. The other members of Fantastic Four agree the stray should join the family but Ben hemmed and haws about the whole situation. Until the night ol’ blue-eyes wakes from sleep in full free fall. Aunt Petunia’s house has fallen through a gigantic sinkhole and now plummets towards the center of the Earth.

Ben calls out to everyone, but know one answers except that pesky terrier. Apparently it had made its way into the house and was sleeping under the Grimm’s bed. Where did Alicia go? Ben grabs the dog and pushes off the bedroom wall toward the window. Yep, they are falling through some type of bottomless pit. The only question is, how did everyone else escape the event? It’s time to do some investigating before this vomit-comet reaches China.

Why is Ben Grimm not a dog person? Is the Mole Man responsible for the free fall event? Will a west highland terrier eat turkey bacon? Collect the series to find out!

Reviewer Notes

Ryan North does it again. If the Wizard of Oz met Inception you might get close to this storyline. Maybe? Issue eleven is a lighthearted side story with a twist. I don’t want to ruin the setup so I will just say Ryan keeps the readers well educated and on their toes. I loved this one, so it gets five out of five stars. Ben might need to work on that dog name though. Go get this one.
