Fantastic Four – Volume 07 Issue 31

Fantastic Four – Volume 07 Issue 31
My Rating

Rating: 4 out of 5.

“The Fantastic Two”

Three out of four doesn’t make a whole. As Benjamin Grimm continues to adjust to life without his orange rocky exterior, the team must carry on with their superhero duties. Cut to the Baxter Building. Devos the Devastator has returned from the beyond to take advantage of The Fantastic Four and their weaknesses.

As the team attempts to subdue the mutant cyborg alien, old Matchstick begins to flame-off fifty stories above the Manhattan skyline. Reed Richards was correct with his theory. If one of The Fantastic Four loses their powers, eventually they all will. It has something to do with the intratemporal cosmic unity theory. Or something like that. Johnny was never a good listener when it came to sciencey jargon.

Have Jo-Venn and N’Kalla discovered a way to get their father’s powers back? Will the team have enough time to kickstart Ben’s cosmic mutation before Sue loses her powers as well? Just who the heck is Devos the Devastator anyway? Collect the series to find out!

Reviewer Notes

Ryan North has accessed the way-back machine and found a classic weakness which has troubled Reed, Sue, Johnny, and Ben in the past. Each member of The Fantastic Four must retain their powers or each will suffer. This was a fun read, but I doubt classic Reed Richards would intentionally damage timeliness to help one individual. Maybe I’m wrong. Just read the issue to gather what I am referring to.

If you are following the subscribed reading list, this story takes place after Doctor Strange of Asgard #02. For this book, I give it four out of five stars. Volume 07 seems to be ending. I’m hoping North gives the family a good send-off.
