“Hallows’ Eve – Volume 01 Issue 03”

Moonlight Marina – the Bronx, Hallows’ Eve has arrived to rescue the infected security guard but he is surrounded by a team Beyond Corporation goons. The men make the stupid decision to combat the pseudo Vampire. More fun for Janine and her bag of Halloween masks.

As a fight ensues, the wheelman radios the Beyond Corporation for backup. Director Maxine Danger answers the call directly. As bodies fly around the outside of the van Maxine yells at the low level driver. Her standing order is simple: retrieve the werewolf or don’t return at all.

Twenty minutes later, Queens – New York, Hallows’ Eve is now in pursuit of the fleeing Beyond Corporation van. The retrieval team made a lucky escape with the werewolf but they’re not out of danger yet. Flying high above the van is Janine in vampire form. The hunger quickly begins to take over as Hallow’s Eve catches up to the speeding vehicle. In seconds Janine rips through the steel roof and climbs into the back to retrieve her prize.

Overpowering the hired muscle comes easy but the vampire’s thirst for blood makes her pause for a brief second. “No one else has to suffer from her mistakes!” Before Janine can refocus her attention an advanced taser weapon strikes her from behind. One of the men kicks Hallows’ Eve squarely in the chest, sending her crashing out through the rear doors of the van. Her stunned body flies out of the moving vehicle onto the street. Janine rolls to a stop near a corner lamp post. Several bystanders flee the scene in terror.

Janine quickly recovers from the jolt but the distance grows quickly between her and the van. With one leap the vampire attempts to take flight again, however a blast of some sticky web-like material blasts her from above. The vampire turns and scowls at the new attacker. It’s none other than the wall-crawler himself, Spider-Man. “Great”, is all Janine can think. “Can things get any worse?”

Can Hallows’ Eve shake the pesky Spider-Man off her trail with a quick Mask change? Will Marcus be able to hack the Beyond Corporation mainframe to locate the infected security guard? Does Director Maxine Danger have a cure for lycanthropy? Collect the series to find out!

Reviewer Notes

This issue was fast and furious but no  information was gained in the struggle. How is Janine going to cure the security guard? Beyond Corporation may have a cure, or not. The Spider-Man intervention was the most entertaining part of the story but it is super brief. Let’s hope his cameo continues into the next issue.

On another note, my previous gripe carries over from issue two. Why doesn’t Hallows’ Eve burst into flames when wearing the vampire mask? She fights and flies around in direct sunlight with no care in the world. Come on man, that dog doesn’t hunt! The Marvel editing department needs to address this flub before Blade gets jealous. Until next time, I give this issue four out of five stars.
