Joe Fixit – Volume 01 Issue 03

My Rating

Rating: 2 out of 5.

“Joe Fixit #03”

Many years ago in a Manhattan diner, Peter Parker sat at a counter eating breakfast. A familiar looking face, two stools down, waited patiently for someone or something to arrive. After a few minutes of contemplating, the name finally comes to Peter. The man sitting nearby was none other than Dr. Bruce Banner.

The two engage in polite conversation until a large man dressed in prison clothes storms into the greasy-spoon. Peter Parker slowly dawns his mask and moves in to confront the infamous Crusher Creel, a.k a. Absorbing Man. Did our friendly neighborhood wall crawler bite off more than he can chew?

Now – Las Vegas, Spider-Man awakens to find himself lying on the Coliseum Casino floor. Joe Fixit stands over him touting a sinister grin. It takes a few seconds for Peter to realize he was knocked by a punch.

It’s time to move fast as the Gray Hulk draws back for a killing blow. With lightning speed, the wall-crawler tumbled out of his prone position and then springs up onto a broken slot machine.

With some quick banter, and a whole lot of luck, Spider-Man temporarily brings Bruce Banner to the surface of the Gray Hulk’s consciousness. Joe Fixit, or whoever is controlling the wheel today, regains some senses. The Gray Hulk makes a bounding leap and crashes through the Casino roof above. With two giant leaps Spider-Man is left in the dust.

Did Green Hulk use his stellar talking skills to convince Crusher Creel not to rob a bank? How many pancakes can Green Hulk eat before the foolish NYPD interrupts breakfast time? Is there an antidote to Kingpin’s mind control chemical? Collect the series to find!

Reviewer Notes

Yet another super brief comic book taking less than ten minutes to read. I enjoyed what was there, but seriously, Dr. Seuss books have more content. A throwback character and some inner reflection a comic book does not make. I would love to give this issue a higher rating, but there’s not much here to review. I’m giving issue three of Joe Fixit 2 out of 5 stars. I would recommend waiting for the trade paperback.
