“The Battle Of The Barbarians!”
Into the mouth of Ibis! Conan and Bêlit chase Red Sonja across the Hyrkanian plains only to be thwarted by a mysterious avalanche. Both pursuers are quickly cut off and Sonja escapes with her prize. Or does she?
Days later, the red-haired courier reaches the Nest of the Sacred Ibis – a temple dedicated to the Stygian god of knowledge, an agreed-upon meeting place of Karanthes. The sorcerer better pay up, if he knows what’s good for himself! As Sonja enters the holy sanctuary to collect her reward, a set of steel-grey eyes watches her from the shadows. Nothing’s over yet. Accept maybe the jealous pining of a Black Coast Pirate Queen.
Can Conan the Barbarian pickup the trail of his mortal adversary? Who does the hooded sorcerer of Messantia truly work for? How many skeletons does it take to justify a Sacred Skull Chamber? Collect the series to find out!
Note: The story concludes in Conan the Barbarian No.68 (1976) – “Day Of Heroes. Night Of Death!”
Review
More amazing Frank Thorne eye-candy awaits inside the series finale of Marvel Feature Vol.02. Unfortunately, this cliffhanger ends inside the pages of the Conan the Barbarian title. What a bummer.
What’s not a bummer is the epic duel between Conan and Red Sonja. It’s been brewing for multiple issues now. Will Sonja’s Lady-Love be secure for another day? I won’t spoil the surprise. Just know this, I give the final issue a five out of five-star rating. Go get it for yourself!
