Savage Dragon / Destroyer Duck – Volume 01 Issue 01

My Rating

Rating: 5 out of 5.

On the rough streets of Chicago blood and puke spill from the innocent as a group of rogue “freaks” begin a terrorism campaign! Will the city’s finest peace officer, Savage Dragon, be able to stop the flow of chunks?

Across the country, in uptown Manhattan, your friendly neighborhood wall crawler is busy tracking a high-tech criminal equipped with advanced robotic armor. Peter checks himself as his trademarked and copyrighted “danger senses” detect something not of this dimension. He has felt this vibe recently while helping a small feathered waterfowl named Howard. This is something different. The Web Head must follow this new threat even if it means leaving the city proper.

Chinatown district, New York city, fists fly as the mysterious robotic warrior comes into conflict with a team of ninja specialists. These heroes in a half shell put up a valiant fight but wood and steel are no match for the creatures advanced military tech. With a quick cowabunga the teen fighters fade into the shadows. Who wants a brew?

Can the freak society be stopped before they topple the windy city? Will the robotic juggernaut continue his rage through the streets of Cleveland? What alias does Howard the Duck decide upon? Collect the series to find out!

Reviewer Notes

I never followed the Savage Dragon storyline, but when I heard that the creator of Howard the Duck wrote a cross over I had to get the book. This issue is Steve Gerber’s infamous hijacking of Howard the Duck into the Image Comics universe. It  is also an unofficial Spider-Man crossover conclusion. If you are a Howard or Destroyer Duck fan this is a must read. Five stars!
