“Team Jen – Part 01”
The Vacation has come to an end but Jack and Jennifer’s relationship is no more stable than when they left. No matter, things are about to become more unstable. Karkas and Ransak the Reject have left the Van Dyne apartment in an unlivable state. Men! Am I right?
Captain Marvel has also left an offer on the table for the mighty She-Hulk to rejoin the Avengers. This time as a full partner. Well, junior partner at least. Now Jen has some serious thinking to do. Will she leave her rocky relationship and dead-end job for another chance at the brass ring? Can Jack of Hearts return as well? Can the Deviants clean up their mess before Jack boils some eyes? Collect the series to find out!
Reviewer Notes
It has been announced by Marvel that this iteration of the Sensational She-Hulk series has been canceled as of issue ten. It doesn’t surprise me as this series should not have been revived under Rainbow Rowell. She-Hulk is much more than a teen romance wrapped in minuscule fight scenes and dinner parties. Yes, to some degree the “slice-of-life” angle works, but making the whole series revolve around that just does not work, and will not work in the future. Please understand this, Marvel Comics.
As for this issue, there is absolutely nothing new happening here. Jack and Jen can’t figure out their relationship, people sitting around a lofty apartment that they don’t even own, and a couple of panels featuring Punch Club. This, a comic book does not make. It’s time to pull the plug and pass the torch to a much more experienced writer and development team. I give this issue three out of five stars.
