If the movies Last Action Hero and Boogie Nights were to birth a comic book series, then that series would be the “Starring Sonya Devereaux”. I purchased this issue solely on the Brendon Fraim Night Nurse homage cover – which was a series published by Marvel Comics back in 1972. I love those old comic books featuring a New York City nurse working the graveyard shift at a local hospital. Combat Nurse is very different indeed.
I love what American Mythology Productions has done here. A comic book about an aging actress starring in very 1980’s-esk style movies, is fun and completely unique compared to what other publishers are releasing these days. The one-liners alone are worth the cover price, in my opinion, of course. Arnold Swartzenegger would be proud! I give Combat Nurse four out of five stars.
