“Greendale’s Own Wicked Trinity”

With Sabrina Spellman out of the way, Greendale is ripe for the taking! Now a new coven has formed in the high school events room hosted by Ms. Hepburn, but does the tranquil English teacher know just what has been transpiring behind her back? The entire school is about to find out just how powerful a fire witch, a sea siren, and a forest fairy are when they combine their magic under the Three-fold Law.. That is if a certain witch learns the proper Latin pronunciations. Hello?!

Can Amber Nightstone keep her coven from crumbling apart over some petty lama drama? Why won’t Sapphire Gill just learn the spells as they were written? Will Jade Kazane convince the others to work as a team?

Reviewer Notes

Archie Comics appears to be gearing up for a big crossover event and the “Wicked Trinity” will be in the middle of all the action. Where did Sabrina go? Since this one-shot takes place in the regular Archie/Sabrina universe, I have no idea. All we have to go by is a few mini-stories featured in other Archie titles.

No matter, this story is solid even with all the teenage drama queen antics. What can I say, this book is written for younger girls and old people like me who were fans of Melissa Jone Hart and her Sabrina television series. To make up for the bickering, Archie Comics provides the readers with bonus material that includes the making of this issue, as well as what is to come in the next phases of the series.

I will say that I did enjoy this book. However, I think Archie Comics should keep the sex references out of the primary Archie universe altogether. These books are meant for younger readers, so identifying a character’s sexual preferences and laying out hints about their sexual escapades is not proper in my opinion. Save that stuff for the Archie Horror side of things as it is written for a more mature audience.

I give this one-shot three out of five stars. The art and coloring were my favorite parts of this book. Hopefully, we find out what happened to Sabrina sooner rather than later. Why was she forced to leave town?
