My Rating

Rating: 4 out of 5.

“Dead By Dawn – Part 05”

They had been here before, one year ago to be precise, standing in front of the old Dandrige house as the mist rose from the blighted ground surrounding the Victorian. Last time Charlie Brewster and the great vampire hunter, Peter Vincent, came to rescue their friend Amy from an ancient vampire menace. Now Amy Peterson has joined the hunt along with Peter’s publicist/knight of the Silver Crucifix, Danny.

Inside the home lurks an evil much older than the Egyptian dynasties in which this vampire was shunned. Her name was Elaha, an undead queen from an age long-forgotten. She has come to Rancho Corvallis seeking revenge on the two men who murdered her lover, Jerry Dandrige. Charlie and Peter thought they knew every trick in the proverbial vampire book. Elaha is about to show the vampire hunters otherwise.

Will Peter Vincent keep his faith in the team’s darkest hour? Has Evil Ed turned on his kind for business or pleasure? What is the true story behind the strigoi named Jerry Dandridge? Collect the series to find out!

Reviewer Notes

This was a fun series even though Tom Holland ignored the events of the Fright Night Part 2 movie – which I thought was canon at this point. I’m a little disappointed, but at least the comics stayed true to the original concept. Tom even set up the ending of this book for a possible sequel. Maybe that will tie into the second movie? I doubt it, but it would be nice to see.

Overall I thought American Mythology Productions did a nice job with this IP and I look forward to reading more of their work. I give issue five, and the Fright Night series as a whole, four out of five stars. If you’re a fan of the movies I think you will like this iteration of the story.
