“Dreamers of Dreams – Part 02 of 03 – The Face Not Seen, The Voice Not Heard”
Cologne, Germany, 1276 AD, a heavy winter storm slows the nobleman’s carriage from traveling up the mountain road, but in a few hours he stands at the castle gates. Inside, Albertus De Groot works on several experiments while waiting for his guest to arrive. Albertus, also known as Albertus Magnus, has learned to be patient over the centuries. The nobleman’s lateness is no different.
There has been a breakthrough in Albertus’ work and it is a major one. He is known for several inventions, including: the pistol, the canon, and the philosopher’s stone. None of those however compare to what is about to be released upon mankind.
San Francisco, USA, 1997, the nightmares continue to flood into the mind of August Ferrill. The faceless ones insist he be afraid, but the “campus cannibal” fears no man. He only seeks meat; they are all meat to this savage. Whoever controls the invaders will not stop August from feasting again. Meat must be harvested. The hunger must be fed.
Elsewhere, in the offices of the San Francisco Tribune, Baron Winters has arranged for a reunion between Jack Gold and Vanessa Van Helsing. They haven’t seen each other since 1987, but their feelings have not faded. They were deeply in love, but Vanessa’s “abilities” scared Jack. So Jack did what Jack does best, run away.
Can the agents of Night Force survive the nightmares which plagued the nation? Will the dream invaders control the Campus Cannibal and bend his will? Does Baron Winters uncover the conspirators in time? Collect the series to find out!
Reviewer’s Notes
This is part two of the “Dreamers of Dreams” story arch. Warning, this book is not for children. It gets kind of graphic and there is some sexual content (a.k.a. the ca-chunk, ca-chunk). The story is a bit hard to follow but the new artist is Shawn Martinbrough of Hellboy fame. If are into the Hellboy art style I would recommend this issue.
