“She-Devil With A Sword”
The Kothian Aristocracy has had it too good for far too long! Generations of their subjects have lived under increasing taxes, starvation, and even the plague. Now the kingdom of Koth is in the throes of revolution. The catalyst, a wave of child mortality. The answer, a growing movement fixated on murdering. Their target, those in power. All of them.
Weeks have passed and the bloodshed continues. Prince Eaymon travels southward, seeking his old friend, Red Sonja. Her skills are greatly needed as the Prince races to stop the revolutionaries behind the slaughter of Lord Ratlin. There is one catch. Those calling themselves the Rising Sun have greater ambitions than simple regime change. They seek the magic of an ancient sorcerer to help bolster their power. The time is nigh!
Will Red Sonja stand with Prince Eaymon and defend what is left of the Kothian power base? What does the Prince want with the young woman named Aretha Vorn? How many free drinks is it really worth to defend a tavern accused of aiding and abetting the enemy? Collect the series to find out!
Review
A new chapter in the Red Sonja saga begins with the release of Dynamite Entertainment’s Red Sonja: She-Devil With A Sword. Writer Rory McConville and Artist Pablo De Bonis appear to be a solid choice for this new series. I definitely like the art style of De Bonis over some of the more recent artists Dynamite has employed. As usual, I’m keeping my fingers crossed for the days of high adventure. I give issue one a rock solid four out of five stars.
