“Perceptions”
The men set a drift upon the flotsam, bobbing in the Mediterranean Sea as their ship sank beneath the waves. For days their thoughts lingered in desperation. Would another ship venture into the trade route bound for Spain? What caused the Gloria to capsize in tranquil conditions? One castaway knew the reason. Fortune would see him in the grave before the truth was revealed.
Then, on the third day, an English merchant vessel spotted the survivors in their tattered state. As the crew hoisted the men and a single bound sea chest aboard the Rampant Stout, it became apparent one among them was abnormal. Over the next few days, it would take one passenger, a Puritan named Solomon Kane, to detect the intent of each castaway.
Can the captain of the Rampant Stout deliver a gift to the Sultan of Turkey before war erupts between kingdoms? Why do survivors of a shipwreck guard an inconsequential sea chest so vigorously? Has the devil finally come for Solomon Kane? Collect the series to find out!
Review
After reading each comic book from Blackthorne featuring characters created by Robert E Howard, I have to say, the writing here is the strongest out of all of them. David and Bobbi Weiss deliver a fully developed story with references to historical figures and a villain from Solomon’s past. The 3-D artwork, on the other hand, seems rudimentary at best. As a fan of Solomon Kane, I can safely say this is a four-star work of fantasy fiction.
