“Blood Of The Damned – Chapter One”
In a SCIF located somewhere in Washington DC. A United States Senator watches as his tech advisor retrieves mugshots from a governmental database. Bly Pharis, The Scarlet Redeemer, has become known to several Deep State agencies recently. Just last week, a teenager from Phoenix, Arizona was involved in the slaughter of several high-profile syndicate members of the Clave.
Why did a centuries-old organization of vampires want to kill the girl? Senator Creighton thinks for a moment, then he asks the tech to retrieve another set of profiles. The Sunrunner? That rogue psychopath, Javier Cortez-Montero, is involved in the vampire slaying as well. This prompts further investigation by the agency.
Hidalgo County Medical Center – New Mexico, two orderlies prepare to transfer a Jane Doe out of the psych ward. The resident doctor doesn’t believe the young woman’s story of vampire biker gangs, nor should he. There is one specialist who sees differently. Doctor Hamashita knows exactly what Joe Doe is. Will the patient with no name make it out of the hospital alive?
Review
Werewolves have arrived as a secret government operation begins to sort things out. Is this the first reference to the R-Complex featured in the future series Scare Tactics? I hope so. This story arch feels like a slow-burner, but writers Tom Joyner and Keith Wilson have some fun elements right off the bat. I give this issue a solid three out of five stars
