My Rating
“Homecoming”
The slave’s of Khonshu have just begun a civil war with the fists of vengeance. Jack Russell, aka Werewolf by Night, and self proclaimed king of the wolves, has kidnapped the daughter of hitman turned Moon Knight, Marc Spector. With the young girl locked up in the depths of the city above, a blood ritual is about to begin. Khonshu will become mortal! The wolves will feast on Egyptian blood!
Has the Wendigo Wars and the victory at Boreal Cordillera prepared the Malibu born Jack Russell for a fight with the legendary Moon Knight? So is it cool being a vampire? How did Jack keep his sanity after reading the Darkhold? Collect the series to find out!
Reviewer Notes
Grizzled mercenary Marc Spector currently looks like a J-Pop star/anime character, Jack Russell is a neck-beard; down is up, up is down – these are not your dad’s Marvel characters. I have to say up front I’m not a fan of the art direction in this annual. I wish Marvel would have kept the werewolf design in spirit with the original books (which was based off the silver screen Universal monsters). To me, the werewolf and vampire universe inside Marvel Comics has morphed into a Underworld movie knockoff. It could be worse I guess, I just don’t like the newer art style.
I do want to point out Jack Russell confirms the Darkhold book corrupts whoever reads its pages. In my last review I mentioned that anyone could study the book in the original series without effect. The story in Moon Knight annual one is good but not very involved. I will go back to my classic books for now.
I’m giving this annual 3 Wendigo Wars out of 5.
