“Tiger By The Tail”
Success! Lone Wolf has rescued the Tiger-X battle-suit from Russian control, but the cost was heavy. Only five of the original rebel strike force remain among the living. As the survivors pull back to the rebel encampment, Jordy takes heavy fire from one of the Soviet battle-suits. To his surprise, the Tiger-X unit takes the punishment with little damage. As he returns fire using the head mounted Gatling Cannons the cockpit of the Soviet Vostok A-4 Attack Suit explodes in flames.
Miles away from the battle, another attack begins. The Soviet traitor has made himself known to the skeleton crew guarding the rebel base. Can a handful of middle-schoolers and a radio operator stop the money hungry killer in his tracks? Before their position is compromised plans are made to pull back to an emergency hideout. Time to pack up and skedaddle. Look out Willy, that’s a knife!

We get our first mech on mech battle in issue two of Tiger-X. Things look very grim for the good ol’ USA as Wartime reports start to trickle over the Freedom Network news channel. Several naval battles take place between the US, British, and Soviets.
As a fan of the original Red Dawn movie from 1984 – which clearly inspires this comic book series, I like how Ben Dunn keeps this story on the global stage, even if it’s in bits and pieces. There are some nice details included in this issue, including battle maps and the use of real military ship names. You have to love the detailed drawings of the Russian Hind Attack Helicopters. They were all the rage in television and movies back in the 1980s. I’m giving this issue four out of five stars. The drama kept me glued to the book like flies to shi…uh, fly paper. If you are looking for vintage indie books, check this one out!
