“The Heart Of A Lover”
The hideous Fritz lay dead in the Frankenstein tower, the creature had reached his fill of abuse from Henry’s assistant. Now Henry Frankenstein and his mentor, Professor Waldman, rush to eliminate the threat before the local countryside is exposed to a terror brought back from beyond the grave. Will the two men be able to subdue the monster with the strength of multiple men?
Elsewhere, Victor and Elizabeth have reached the Frankenstein estate in the middle of town, but they are not alone. A stowaway has hitched a ride on the back of the horse and buggy. The boy had escaped the grasp of Fritz as the man fought back the monster. His only thought now was to warn the man and woman of what he had seen at the castle and Doctor Frankenstein’s involvement in his father’s grave robbery.
Reviewer Notes
The monster is loose and love is on the chopping block here in issue three of Universal Monsters Frankenstein. This Image Comics version of the story is based on the Universal Studios movie released in 1931. To be honest, after reading the Marvel Comics take on the Frankenstein Monster (circa 1973), this version is not very interesting. The art and coloring is very well done here, as is expected with Image Comics, but without a compelling storyline the production seems like a waste. I give this one a meager three out of five stars.
