My Rating
“Blade: Red Band – Part 03”
On the hunt! As Blade and his new partner Elena race to find the new vampire threat, in the Mowloon war zone, a group of Insurgents has just attacked a local hospital. Inside, the doctors and nurses scramble to take over, but not all are frightened. One doctor is busy reviving a young woman with a transfusion of his own blood.
Will Blade and Elena arrive in time to save their contact who knows the location of the vampire warlord, Pontius Van Helsing? Who is the overbearing doctor with the gift of theatrics? Why is Elena so hostile to Blade and his chosen occupation? Collect the series to find out!
Vampire Lore
● A human revived through vampirism is referred to as going through their “Second Death”.
● Blade reveals that some vampires can experience other vampire’s deeds and track their locations through the “Eyes of the Second World”. The vampire hunter does not elaborate if vampires see through each other’s eyes, or if this is a form of divination.
Reviewer Notes
The artwork is the main draw of this series, but I will stand by my previous reviews in regard to the storyline. The Red Band series does nothing to distinguish itself from what was already done in the previous Blade series. To be honest, it’s bland. Maybe younger Blade fans are getting a different experience out of this than me? I just do get the appeal here.
I would also address all the recent swords Blade has been given to use. The gigantic Manga/Anime swords should stay in Manga/Anime. They really look ridiculous here in the Marvel Universe. Marvel, Just stop please!
I give Blade: Red Band #3 three out of five stars. It’s my least favorite Marvel title currently on the newsstands. Hopefully this one gets better, but with their track record, I have my doubts.
