Blade – Volume 05 Issue 04

My Rating

Rating: 3 out of 5.

“Mother Of Evil – Part 04”

Doctor Strange has joined the party, although begrudgingly. Earlier in the week Stephen had lost several students to the murdering hands of the Adana. Since Blade had accidentally freed the demon, the Sorcerer Supreme lays the blame for their deaths solely at the vampire hunter’s feet.

Blade has an opportunity to redeem himself in the eyes of his old acquaintance, but the Daywalker must retrieve the only weapon capable of killing the Adana. That very weapon resides on a high speed passenger train guarded by a small army of Reaper Vampires. Doctor Strange can get Blade and friends on one of the passenger cars, the rest will be up to them.

Who is the mysterious arms dealer known as Hamilton Achilles? Is the Reaper strain still infecting vampires throughout the Vampire Nation? Will Stephen Strange forgive Blade for his careless mistake? Collect the series to find out!

Reviewer Notes

The mediocrity has returned to Blade in issue four of the “Mother of Evil” storyline. It’s not a total train wreck as depicted at the end of the book. I just don’t get it. Marvel really needs to bring back some of the old school writers like Marv Wolfman and Jim Shooter.

Speaking of writing, I’m not an X-men or Wolverine aficionado, but isn’t Adamantium extremely rare on Earth 616? How does some D-list vampire arms-dealer own a passenger train covered with the precious metal? Don’t tell me Wakonda has a Adamantium meteor buried under their city too.

The only thing I found interesting about this entire issue was the return of the Reaper Strain hybrids. At least I believe it’s the Reaper strain variant. Look out Blade, it will be like fighting Vampires who are hopped up on methamphetamines! This lack of conviction on this series leads me to give another three out of five star review. Until next time…
