As Professor Haley and his team of investigators approach Dinosaur Island, onboard the Justice League’s satellite headquarters, paranoia begins to plague Mister Terrific. Has the essence of Darkseid infected every member of Challengers of the Unknown? Their members have now grown suspicious of Terrific and his information siloing, but the leader of the JLU has no choice. If his suspicions are true, they could use the knowledge of the Watchtower and all of its scientific knowledge to destroy the League.
As Mister Terrific struggles with his dilemma, back on Earth, Haley and two Atoms, Ray Palmer and Ryan Choi, have landed on the beach of the island now dubbed DS-Anomaly-C. The Professor guns the engine on the Challengers Scrum-Wagon and the men launch forward into the heavy jungle terrain. Within minutes, the sounds of the vehicle’s power plant combined with the noise of crushing underbrush attracts the local carnivores. A monstrous Gorgosaurus crashes through the nearby treeline, racing headfirst into the team of investigators.
Will this be the end for Haley, Palmer, and Choi? Can Ken Kawa relay his traumatic moments with Darkseid before he slips back into a coma? Has the time come for all members of the Challengers to unite and make a stand against the Justice League United? Collect the series to find out!
Reviewer Notes
Wow, the Anthro and Embra are still active in the DC Universe, and they have super-genius-level intelligence? Wait, what?! This series is turning out to be more involved than I ever expected. In fact, Challengers of the Unknown Volume 05 is a real blast! Issue #03 receives another five out of five star review from me. I’m impressed by this series.
