“Welcome to New Jersey”

Seaside Heights, New Jersey, Ben Grimm and his wife Alicia have just finished dinner at one of Seaside’s most luxurious French restaurants. Ben holds his breath in excitement as Aunt Petunia opens a sealed envelope given to her and her husband earlier in the evening. Inside Petunia finds a check for an outlandish sum of money made out to Uncle Jake and herself. This was a gift Ben had always envisioned giving them ever since his older brother Danny had died so many years ago.

How much is too much? Uncle Jake flat out asks if Ben was on drugs. Laughter follows but not for long. As Alicia assures Jake and Petunia the gesture was no prank, Ben sees spots of light forming over the restaurant table. In a flash, a familiar looking Interdimensional portal spins into reality and a gigantic dragonoid monster erupts from the gateway. Ben dives in front of his family members to shield them from the beastie. As he does this a familiar Sorcerer Supreme flies in from the same portal.

The Thing swings wildly with a haymaker punch powerful enough to crack mountains. His fist lands on the left jaw of the dragonoid, knocking the creature senseless. To the right Stephen Strange casts a Mystic bolt spell causing the gigantic monster to explode from the inside out. The restaurant is instantly covered from floor to ceiling in icor and blood. Doctor Strange picks up a cocktail from a server’s tray and begins to sip at the drink. Uncle Jake thinks this was the best thing since his wedding day all those years ago.

Before the two heroes can be properly thanked, and insurance information exchanged, both Ben Grimm and Stephen Strange blink out of existence. Just another day in the life of the man being stalked by a future born time traveler and his robotic doomsday army.

Why are there two separate Bands of Supplication now floating around the tri-state area? Have Ben and Stephen been teleported to another time, dimension, or reality? Does the Magical Children’s Welfare Council, or M.C.W.C., really exist? Collect the series to find out!

Reviewer Notes

They had me at the “Magical Children’s Welfare Council”. I didn’t even know that organization existed. What a fun issue this was. I’m a little worried that Ben’s check will place Aunt Petunia and Uncle Jake into a higher tax bracket. Does New Jersey have a family gift tax? One thing I know is issue three of Clobberin Time gets a five out of five star rating. Good job team Marvel.
