The Dark Wars – Part 04 of 04

Do Not Go Gently Into That Dark Night…

Pulled through the ebony gateway into the Dark Dimension, Strange, Clea, Umar the Unrelenting square off against the dreaded one known as Dormammu.  On the other side of the portal, trapped in the lower levels of the Sanctum Santorum, Rintrah attempts to dive through the newly erected portal but Baron Mordo sends the minotaur flying across the room with a blast of a Hex Bolt.

The blow was painful but Rintrah speaks nothing of it. His pride takes over as Mordo launches a second attack on the minotaur. Rintrah manages to dodge past the wizard but is stopped from entering the portal by the titan known as the G’uranthic Guardian.

With Doctor Strange back in the Dark Dimension can he defeat a Dormammu powered by raw black energies? Can Baron Mordo see his flawed logic and save Doctor Strange before it’s too late? Will Doctor Strange establish a mental connection with the G’uranthic Guardian and force the leviathan to attack the dreaded one? Collect the series to find out!

Reviewer Notes

By the Eye of Agamotto, we’ve reached the fourth and final issue in the Dark Wars story arc. Even though a supplemental tale from the Book of the Vishanti is not included this is still a strong issue. I originally picked up the four books because of the cover art on this issue (No. 24). The G’uranthic Guardian was featured in the 2022 Midnight Suns miniseries, which was my favorite part of that run. It’s fun tying these classic 1990’s books with their future counterparts.

As I said in my last review, I really enjoyed this updated series. The art, the writing, and meta language is fun for everyone. I’m giving this issue 4 out of 5 stars. Now go get some Strange in your life!
