As the forces of Ymir and Kulan Gath battle for supremacy at Emberfall, Red Sonja and her two souls flee to the northlands of Cimmeria. It is there that she works in the gladiatorial pit to pay for her travels. But she is not alone. A god’s soul now speaks inside of Sonja’s head. It is quite taxing to know the fate of everyone she meets.
All around the crimson-haired swordmaster the signs of prophecy begin aligning. The daughter of Erlik races north to recover her father’s lost particulars, while a sacred barbarian clan readies themselves to intercept Red Sonja – their prophesied doombringer. Who will be victorious? Even the gods have no insight in these times.
Do Cimmerian money handlers honor all wagers, or lose teeth collecting taxes? Will Ymir win the heart of Red Sonja’s dead sister? Is Erlik’s magic strong enough to help aid Sonja in her travels? Collect the series to find out!
Reviewer Notes
We get a break from the continuing storyline monotony as Red Sonja finds herself amongst a town full of low-intelligence miners and inbred brutts. The comedy ensues as readers learn the horrific fate of several townsfolk. For me, that is where the entertainment ends. The plot continues to move at a snail’s pace. Too bad, as I really wish the best for this series. I give Red Sonja #13 three out of five stars.
