“Everywhere We Need To Be”
Somewhere in an after hours bank building, the real Nick Fury and Maria Hill are taking a trip to Fist City. The driver is the recently escaped Skrull named Danni. The Skrull woman delivers punch after punch to her human prisoners. A group of Skrull infiltrators watch on in pure enjoyment. Nick Fury swears through a split lip that they will never reveal top secret information.
Danni laughs sinisterly in retort. The invasion force has already taken control of their objectives. It all went according to plan. Torturing Nick and Maria is just a bonus. After hitting Maria with a mutated hammer hand, the Skrulls pull up a virtual display of the United States. On various points across the map Danni shows the names and locations of various government officials compromised by Skrull shapeshifters. There are various military leaders and state Senators on the list.
Maria begins to chuckle hardily as blood drips from the cuts on her face. Nick Fury is now convinced she has lost her mind. What he doesn’t realize will blow the minds of everyone in the room.
Will the Skrull be successful in launching an all out nuclear war against the planet they swore to conquer? What will happen to the Skrull collaborators with Tony Stark out of the way? Is that the Super Skrull waiting in the cosmic wing? Collect the series to find out!
Reviewer Notes
I’ve been tricked! I’ve been duped! G’illian Blax’zthor, the Skrull mutant who defected during the Unbeatable Squirrel Girl series, is alive and well. You got me, Ryan North. You got me.
Issue five of Secret Invasion volume two is the series finale. I admit I thought this run was going to end with a dud, but surprisingly it was very entertaining. I still say they could have condensed this story down to three books or made it a graphic novel. Overall I give this issue 4 out of 5 stars. The series itself, I have to go 3 out of 5 stars. I love the call back to the Squirrel Girl comics but this series seem a bit dragged out.
