Supernatural Thrillers – Volume 01 Issue 09
My Rating

Rating: 4 out of 5.

“Pyramid Of Peril!”

Cast back to Earth by the Elemental gods of old Atlantis, N’kantu the Living Mummy has been enslaved by their powers. Now, the ancient Swarilis Chieftain is forced to retrieve an artifact known in Atlantean times as the Ruby Scarab. What the Elementals and N’kantu do not know is that the gem is being guarded by a sinister force powered by the mysterious X gene.

Can the Living Mummy defend himself against both magic and mutant abilities in order to retrieve the Atlantean artifact? Will Professor Abdol or Doctor Skarab reach the Pyramid of the Dead before N’kantu is destroyed in his quest? What secrets are hidden in the pits below the royal chambers of a forgotten Pharaoh?

“The Secret Of The Universe!”

A pilot, dying of a fatal disease, has just left Earth’s orbit in a vessel capable of light speed. The new technology was untested, but the man volunteered anyway to help better mankind. There are so many unanswered questions about our universe. If a man with a terminal illness could help answer even one of those age-old queries, his offspring would flourish in a new Age of Enlightenment. This is the story of one such man.

Reviewer Notes

Mummies and mutants and Atlanteans, oh my! This issue of Supernatural Thrillers featuring the Living Mummy has everything but the kitchen sink.  N’kantu is a pretty tough cookie for one whose power comes from just being buried in the sand for two thousand years. I love this guy more and more with each issue I read.

There are some very cool tie-ins with the Uncanny X-Men, as well as the old Marvel Conan the Barbarian and Kull the Conqueror series. I highly recommend getting the Supernatural Thrillers books if you can find them. There are only 15 books in the collection, and the prices are still reasonable. I’m giving issue nine a solid four out of five stars. This one was fun, fun, fun!
