“Army Of Darkness Forever”
His name was Ash, and he was a slave. It all started at a cabin in the dark mountain forest upstate. In 1993 all things were good between Ash and his girlfriend Linda, that is until they found the book bound in human flesh, and inked with blood. Then everything went crazy. That is, Linda went crazy as any hellspawn can be when possessed.
One thing led to another. A hand gets cut off here, a demonic portal gets opened to the 12th century there, just another day in the life of a S-Mart employee. Now Ash has to fight an Army of Darkness in order to return to his precious 20th century. It will take the destruction of his evil doppelganger and some fancy pillow-talk to free the people of King Arthur’s court.
Will Ash Williams choose a life as a medieval king or return to the high pace world of department store retail? Can the chainsaw wielding “chosen-one” say the exact words to free the book of the dead? How many drops of potion was it again? Collect the series to find out!
Reviewer Notes
If you have ever wondered what the original ending to Sam Raimi’s 1992 cult classic “Army Of Darkness” was supposed to be, or if you are like me and didn’t know there was an alternate ending in the first place, then this series is for you. Dynamite Comics has finally brought us the lost ending we always knew we deserved in this miniseries adaptation of the movie created thirty years ago.
Issue number one of “Army of Darkness – Forever” basically highlights the events following Evil Dead II (1987) which is the contents of the Army of Darkness film released in 1992. As a fan of the franchise myself, I do recommend adding this one to your pull list. If you haven’t seen the movies, I recommend seeing at least the third movie before reading issue one of this series.
Overall, I like the art and the writing. I can’t wait to see what happens to Ash next. This book gets four out of five stars from me. Just think, if Ash would have said the words correctly, S-Mart would still be having those awesome blue-light specials on aisle three. Just think about that.
