Chilling Adventures Presents… Jinx – A Cursed Life

My Rating

Rating: 3 out of 5.

“Jinx – A Cursed Life”

The droning screams came from the garage attached to the Holiday home. Even with the door closed the horrendous music could be heard a block away, maybe more. One day a neighbor decided to walk his dog passed the driveway leading to the disturbance only to find two girls “playing” Rockstar. The old man rolls his eyes in annoyance and continues with his day.

Inside the two-stall garage Jinx and Danni Malloy are busy thrashing on an old set of drums and a ratty Squire guitar Crate amplifier combination. Jinx, claiming the role of lead singer, bellows out a broken melody about homework and parents. Drummer Danni swings wildly at aging drum skins in attempt to keep time. The only thing running through the redhead’s mind is the thought of music lessons.

Danni stops the random assault on her drums to addresses the suckiness of their situation. Jinx frowns at Danni’s request to get her father involved. “I’m not the devil’s daughter,” Jinx screams for the third time today. “I’m just extremely unlucky!” This comes from the girl who burnt down half of Riverdale Elementary School.

Before the argument can continue a familiar face pokes his head into the garage looking for Jinx. Archie Andrews appears desperate for help involving the current condition of his friend Jughead Jones. “I’m not the devil’s daughter,” Jinx screams again. Archie will take no for an answer. He believes Jughead is possessed by Jinx’s father Satan!

What price will Archie pay to gain the assistance of Riverdale’s newest punk rock duo? Is Satan really the father of Li’l Jinx? Can Danni Malloy turn the tide of demonic power inside the Highway to the Jughead Zone? Buy the book to find out!

Reviewer Notes

The continuing theme in this month’s issue of Chilling Adventures Presents is the devil and rock music. Last time we found out that Wilkin’s boy sold his soul at the crossroads for seven years of happiness. Now Li’l Jinx is the devil’s daughter. What? I knew she was severely unlucky but an actual demon child. Now I must dig into her past to unravel the mystery!

“Jinx – A Cursed Life” is another nicely produced edition to the series. I do have one little complaint about the new Archie Comics releases. Why so many advertisements. It seems almost half the books are comprised of ads for older books, the various television series, and other things already released. I wish they would focus more on the stories. I’m giving this issue of Chilling Adventures Presents three out of five stars. Hey Archie reps, more content, less advertisements.
