Chilling Adventures Presents… Pop’s Chock’lit Shoppe Of Horrors

My Rating

Rating: 3 out of 5.

“Die And Dash”

Friday night is date night at Pop’s dinner. There’s nothing like chowing down on burgers and milkshakes when you are with your favorite girl. The late night movie awaits those who have finished their meals and paid the check. What happens when a forgetful-Freddy leaves his wallet at home, and a leaching-lucy expects men to pay for everything in life? Nick St. Clair and Sherry Thyme are about to find out what happens to those who attempt to “Dine and Dash” on Terry Tate’s watch!

“Kevin Keller in Night Shift”

One hand washes the other. Isn’t that what they say about favors? Kevin Keller has just made a deal with Pop’s Tate to work the night shift. All Kevin was asked to do is be polite, as the late crowd can be a little finicky at times. Young Kevin is about to find out just how different the customers can be after dark.

“Betty Cooper in Soilent Teen”

Betty Cooper, the class overachiever, is a little bitter at her lab partner’s having stood her up. What’s worse, Betty left her phone at Pop’s Chock’lit Shoppe earlier today. Can she make it to the diner before it closes?

Betty runs faster than usual as the thoughts of being cut off from the social networks would be a death sentence. Too late! Pop’s has closed early for a special event. Inside a group of adults are about to dine on some of the “local cuisine”.

Why are all of the local teens disappearing from Riverdale? Where is Pop Tate getting all that delicious meat? Is Betty Cooper a slacker or top of the menu? Collect the issue to find out!

Reviewer Notes

What can I say, but wow! Riverdale has gone full Cannibal Lecter this year. Lol, all I want to know is what special agreement Pop has with Jughead. Is this in a previous issue, or possible future reveal? We get three mini-stories in this edition of Chilling Adventures Presents. Each one builds into a larger, more sinister reveal. The last section of the book contains multiple pages of advertising. Is this Archie Comics new standards of practice?  Usually it bugs me. I feel the reader gets jipped out of story time, somehow. This time I feel more satisfied with the content so I can’t complain too much. I’m giving this book 3 out of 5 stars
