“The Fantastic Four Meet The Skrulls From Outer Space!”
It had been a great vacation so far as Reed, Sue, Johnny, and Ben made their way upstate to enjoy the forest wilderness. As Johnny and Reed spent the day hunting deer, Sue kept Ben company as he reflected on his new form. Would the world ever accept him in this monstrous state? Or, would he be forced to live in seclusion until humanity learned tolerance?
The hunters were both met with a hardy lunch when they returned to the lodge at noon. Sue had always been a great cook, even when the circumstances were rudimentary. As they all sat listening to the radio, a news alert came over the airwaves. Flash! The Fantastic Four were now wanted by every authority in the United States. Several high-stake crimes had been committed by the team with god-like abilities. Why did the ones people thought to be heroes turn on the public like this?
Over the next few hours, Reed had to come up with a plan to prove their innocence. But not all of them were ready to roll over and submit to the authorities. Benjamin Grimm, the hideous Thing, would rather fight than admit to something they didn’t do! What did Johnny and Sue think of their situation? It would all soon come to light.
“Prisoners Of The Skrulls”
Arrested! As the Fantastic Four debated their next plan of action, the U.S. Army advanced under the cover of dark towards the remote hunting lodge. To save the lives of his friends, Reed Richards, now better known as Mister Fantastic, surrenders unconditionally to the platoon of seasoned troops. Within hours, Reed, Sue, Johnny, and Ben are moved to a highly secure military prison somewhere in California.
Each member of the Fantastic Four has been placed into a specialized cell constructed to counteract their unique abilities. However, even the most fortified places on Earth have their weaknesses. It will take every ounce of brainpower for our heroes to break free of this place. No matter. Each one of them has taken stock of their surroundings!
“The Fantastic Four Fight Back!”
Days have passed since The Fantastic Four escaped from federal incarceration. Now they have begun their search for the alien invaders who placed them in jeopardy. In an unexpected act, Johnny Storm volunteers to be bait in the team’s plan to lure the Skrull shapeshifters into the open. The only question is if the Human Torch is fast enough to survive an assault by both Alien and U.S. Army adversaries.
“Captured!”
With an invasion fleet thwarted and three Skrulls remaining in police custody, what will become of the alien invaders? With the Skrulls’ ability to mimic any living thing, a human jail cell will not be sufficient. It’s time for Reed Richards to put his brains to work!
Reviewer Notes
The Fantastic Four have returned for issue two and the readers are introduced to the surge of the galaxy. Meet the shapeshifting Skrulls! As an alien invasion fleet hides in Earth orbit, the Skrull leader has sent several infiltrators to Central City to defeat the world’s most powerful defenders.
If you’re a Fantastic Four fan or any of the Secret Invasion comic books, you will definitely want this one for your collection. Marvel Comics is scheduled to re-release the first twelve issues of the original Fantastic Four series. The originals are extremely rare, so don’t miss out on these facsimile versions. I give issue #2 four out of five stars!
